WEEK OF 6/27

U14 Red had an impressive 11-4 win at Gile Field on Tuesday night. Marilyn C., Anna C.,  Molly M. and Ella P. all had big hits to lead the offense, while Anna, Molly, and Gianna G. had key defensive stops squashing every attempt Duxbury made to rallying back.  Jillian V. pitched an impressive complete game win, while Marilyn C. caught the entire game and made a tough play behind the plate on a hard slide.

U14 Red hopes to build off this win Thursday night against Weymouth.

Milton U14 White 7, South Braintree 2.

The offense hit the ground running early in this game and took advantage of two walks and a bunt by Arden C. in the first inning before Kaylie M. hit the ball -- and bounced off the top of the fence and back into the field -- missing the home run by inches.  Her double knocked in two RBIs and shook up the defense.

The bottom of the first showed our pitching strengths as Arden C. threw five pitches -- three strikes to the first batter, a bunter that was thrown out by catcher Kaylie M. and a soft pop fly to second-basewoman Ava H.  Arden's four innings saw no runs and five more K's.  She was able to keep the offense off-balance and added to the defense by making three other infield plays.

Ava H. came in relief, striking out six and holding this tough Braintree squad to five runs in her three innings of work.

Offensive help was given by a key double by Caroline H. in the fourth that allowed two runs to score.  Ava H. also laid down a perfect drag bunt to get on -- allowing Kaylie M.  to move from first to third base.

Milton U18 hosted Middleboro on a windy night at Cunningham Park. Pitching and defense dominated the first three innings of the game until Milton exploded for 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th. Milton's Liz T. continued to dominate on the mound going the first 6 innings with 0 runs, 0 hits and 11Ks. Milton U18 was one out away from pitching a no-hitter until Middleboro hit a 3 run double. Milton retired the next batter on a flyball to center and won by a score of 6-4.

Defensively Caitlin L. had two great catches in center, Catcher Jess O. robbed a batter from a bunt single, Eva H. throwing out runners at third and home. Offensively, Jess O., Caitlin L., Jenna C., Eva H., Bella C., Meg L., Liz T., and Ava K. all hit solid hits with Meg L. delivering a clutch 2-RBI double on an 0-2 pitch.

WEEK OF 6/20

U14 White: 17, Weymouth 9

The team got off to a great start with two strong innings pitched by Ava H., who struck out six of the first seven batters she faced. Maureen L. came in the fourth inning and struck out four over three innings.

Offensively, the team also responded well, with two back-to-back innings in which the team scored the maximum of six runs.  The offense was led by Kaylie M.'s three-run homer in the first inning, as well as a double by Ava H.  Other strong hits came from Clare A., Caroline H., Lexi F. and a fifth-inning double by Alex R.

Milton U18 hosted Hingham at Gile Road in the opener for both teams. Milton fell behind early but continued to battle back but it was not enough as they fell to Hingham by a score of 16-10.
