The Grades 5-6 Junior Division runs from early April through mid-June. The focus is on the fundamentals of hitting, throwing, and catching where players learn to become smart aggressive base runners, fundamentally sound at the plate and recognize where to make the play defensively. Most regular softball rules apply. Limited stealing. Umpires call balls and strikes. The league makes every attempt to keep roster size to no more than 13 players to allow plenty of playing time for all.
Player is a resident of Milton or attends school in Milton.
Player is enrolled in Grade 5 or 6.
The league wants to ensure that we have competitive balance across all teams so we do our best to make sure each team has pitching, catching and an equal amount of 5th and 6th graders.
Typically 2 games per week. The schedule usually includes games on Saturdays and mid-week @ 6PM. Expectation is that players will make at least 75% of all games.
1x practice per week. Coaches will also schedule practices before the season.
All teams make the playoffs. Single elimination format.
Jerseys are provided and handed out prior to the first game.
